The Week Ahead for Mortgage Rates

Sep 3, 2013

Mortgage rates improved last week as economic data pointed to a slow down in growth and tensions regarding Syria dominated much of the headlines.

Mortgage rates this week most likely will see movement on rumors of when/if the Fed will begin tapering its purchases of bonds, including mortgage backed securities (MBS).  Many believe the Fed will begin the tapering around September 19th.  The extent of the selling is more uncertain.

Most experts believe the long term outlook shows home loan interest rates moving upward.  Now is a good time to consider purchasing a home or refinancing.
